Biochar natural feed additive with the potential to revolutionize livestock production.  Biochar, aka charcoal, is a significant natural carbon storehouse that has been made by nature and used by humans for thousands of years. The formation of Biochar is a natural way of regulating global carbon cycles.

Adding biochar to your supplement mix can have significant benefits for your livestock, your soils, and the atmosphere. Numerous reports have now shown that the use of Biochar for a stock feed has resulted weight gain increases, increased milk production, a boost to the immune system, along with reductions in methane emissions.  Manure odor and gut health improvements lead to better overall health of livestock.  Reductions in patty toxicity increase dung beetle activity.

Biochar can be used instead of shell grit for poultry.

In addition to the benefits to the animal, Biochar also has on pasture advantages as the animals' gut microbes inoculate and distribute activated biochar with no equipment necessary.  When coupled with active dung beetle populations the benefits to your pastures of the increased carbon include improved moisture retention, reduced run off and more active microbial habitats.
